My sister actually referred me to this Ventura location. I haven't had the best treatment at other dental offices in the past so I was looking for a new place with excellent care. I am so glad I found Channel Islands Family Dental Office Ventura they have met my expectations above & beyond. The staff is wonderful they are all so respectful & nice they make you feel comfortable & relaxed. Perla has been great with keeping up with getting all of my paperwork submitted to insurance. Approval has been fast and they are very quick with getting your next appointment scheduled & @ times that work best with your schedule thats a huge plus for me. It's been an amazing experience working with Dr. Nicholas Young he is the best dentist I've seen in a very long time. I plan to continue coming here as long as I can receive treatment from him. I trust him and know he's doing the best he can to do for the job that needs to be done and he cares about his work & patients. I absolutely recommend this office for emergency dental work and all general dental care. I've actually had my daughter's records transfered here as she will start getting her dental work done at this office location too and I'm going to look into the orthodontist they work with for my son. I'm putting my trust into this practice to care for my family's dental needs. Thank you Channel Island Family Dental Office Ventura for all of your dedicated work and making my dental experience great again.

Root Canal Symptoms

It is possible that in a routine check-up with your dentist, you may be informed about the need for a root canal, which is one of the least invasive dental treatments.

Endodontics, or root canal treatment, aims to preserve a tooth that, if left untreated, would have to be extracted. Therefore, root canal treatment is the last resort to save a diseased tooth and prevent the patient from having to have a prosthesis or implant to replace it.

Triggers Of Root Canal Symptoms

Two main reasons can cause this damage:

 •   When the tooth has received a strong blow and, whether it breaks or not, the tooth loses its vitality.

 •   Due to a cavity that has not been treated in time and the infection reaches the dental pulp.

Chewing pain or sudden pain

Chewing should not represent any discomfort if your teeth are healthy. Therefore, the fact that it hurts to chew is an indication that there is a problem. Even if you cannot see any alteration in your teeth or gums with the naked eye, but you still feel pain or discomfort when you eat, you may need a root canal.

Even without chewing, there are cases in which people who need a root canal treatment experience sudden sharp pains in one of their teeth.

One of the most common causes you may need a root canal for is after a trauma or a blow to one of your teeth.

It is possible that one of your teeth has broken and you didn’t realize it. If the trauma affected the tooth’s nerve, you will begin to notice discoloration changes in the tooth because the area is no longer receiving the same blood flow as before.

Gum inflammation

Root canal treatment is required when the root of the tooth is affected, as we already know, by decay or trauma. Being a problem in the pulp, it is usual that the gums or other soft parts surrounding the tooth become inflamed.

Inflammation in your gums may also indicate that you suffer from an infectious process in the root so that you will need a root canal more urgently.

Bad taste in the mouth and bad smell

If there is an infectious process affecting the root of your tooth and it is not taken care of in time, the infection can create an abscess with pus that will generate a strange taste in your mouth and halitosis. Root canal treatment provides the ideal cleaning and treatment to overcome these two uncomfortable symptoms.
